Today I will begin my participation in the One World Foundation and USAID Global Health Fellows partnership program in Kaolack, Senegal. We have a day's worth of traveling ahead of us!
I am very excited about my future work with the Shifa-al-Asqam (Healers of the Sick) Socio Medical Center. I will contribute to community health initiatives and the hospital's non-profit capacity building strategies until August 1st. During my time in Kaolack, I will live with a Senegalese family and will learn Wolof, the native language of Senegal. Although I'll be lost in translation, I know that their kindness and warmth will help me settle into this new environment!
I am humbled to be among dynamic young leaders who want to contribute to the social justice movement: http://theoneworldfoundation.org/?page_id=436
Looking forward to sharing this experience with you!
My deepest gratitude to my funders and supporters: Carlos Hernandez, Mayra Hernandez, Molly Gallagher, Oscar Benitez, Christina and Ben Keeton, Kate Jones, Clemson Smith Muniz, Luis Gomez, Valerie de Cruz and the Greenfield Intercultural Center, James Ricky, Gladys Acevedo, José Ramón and Nieves Suarez, and Edis Davalos.
